POST Lists Opening for Caldwell Police Chief Position

April 15 is the last day for individuals to apply for the position. The position is open after the retirement of Frank Wyant.

Job Summary/Qualifications: The City of Caldwell is seeking a Police Chief who will be a strong leader to a department of 78 officers and serving a community of approximately 64,500. This individual oversees the day-to-day law enforcement operations, instills strong leadership and moral ethics within the organization, maintains a good rapport with the community and other public agencies, and maintains relationships with community leaders to promote a safe community.
This position is appointed and serves at the pleasure of the Mayor and Caldwell City Council. Must demonstrate strong communication, leadership, organizational, and management skills as well as experience with community policing. Must possess good interpersonal skills and have the ability to effectively communicate with other City employees and the general public. Must possess or qualify to possess an Advanced Certification through Idaho Peace Officers Standards and Training. Subject to a pre-employment drug test, polygraph, and background check.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement, criminal justice or a related field; or equivalent education and experience in law enforcement and extensive (measured by ten or more years) work experience in law enforcement, including several years at a senior management level.

The salary is estimated to be between $120,000 and $140,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
Caldwell’s new police chief will ultimately be appointed by Mayor Jarom Wagoner.
