Press Release: Heath Freedom Defense Fund Lawsuits Results in Halting of Covid Injection Policy
By Press Release • January 29, 2025[Ketchum, ID] – Last week, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a statement rescinding a policy that had unlawfully required Covid vaccines for green card applicants who reside in the country.
It appears that USCIS acted, at least in part, in response to a motion that had been filed in federal court by Health Freedom Defense Fund (HFDF), Benjamin Collins and Bingbing Yu which sought to enjoin USCIS from continuing to enforce the policy because COVID-19 is not a vaccine-preventable disease for which proof of vaccination can be required under the law. Indeed, USCIS announced the change in policy just hours before lawyers met with the judge in the Collins case.
While HFDF is thrilled with the asserted change in policy, it will continue litigating the Collins case—and any others that must be filed—to ensure that all green card applicants world-wide are free of this unlawful and unscientific policy.
Advertisement“HFDF has been contacted by families whose children cry every night because they miss their father who is stranded abroad merely because he has not taken the Covid shot and because USCIS has been so vague in its statement about the policy,” said HFDF president Leslie Manookian.
Plaintiffs have demanded an end to the policy for all individuals applying for lawful immigration whether based in the US or abroad. Plaintiffs have also requested that the court confirm that CDC may only add injections for “vaccine preventable diseases” to the list of vaccines required for immigration. A further hearing in the Collins case is set for February 26.
