Over Half of SJSU Women’s Volleyball Team Enters Transfer Portal After Controversial Year

By • December 21, 2024

Over half of San Jose State University’s women’s volleyball team for next season has entered the transfer portal after a year in which the team won eight games by forfeit.

The forfeits came as a result of SJSU’s male player being on the team, which caused nationwide controversy earlier this year. Boise State University forfeited three matches against SJSU, including a game in the Mountain West Conference playoffs. BSU’s forfeit cost them a chance at a title match.

The SJSU team currently has 19 players listed on the 2024 roster. However, six players, including the male player Blaire Fleming, are seniors and will not be on the 2025 roster.

This means that only 12 players remained on the team for next year. The San Francisco Chronicle is now reporting that seven of the remaining players have decided to enter the transfer portal to try and play next year at a different school, leaving just five players from this year’s roster.

Would this have been the case had a male player not been allowed on the women’s team and multiple universities forfeited their matches? That seems unlikely.

At some point, the NCAA and/or Mountain West Conference will have to make decisions about protecting women’s sports, or these types of situations will continue, and the controversy will grow.

Idaho was the first state in the country to block males from participating in female sports from kindergarten through college. That law is on hold as the U.S. Supreme Court is expected to issue an opinion on the controversy.

  1. Probably sick of the Woke /DEI /Tranny garbage.
Federal funding for schools with this crap along with Anti American crap will end fairly soon.

  2. Good for Idaho… We SHOULD be protecting Women in Women’s sports. I dont care what you want to call yourself or “identify” as, but if you have a Y chromosome, you are biologically a Male… period, end of story. These mediocre male players who go nowhere in their sport, to suddenly decide they want to play on a Women’s team and dominate is NOT fair to those female athletes who’ve worked their hind end’s off to be the best in their chosen sport.
Fine, you want to allow other biological sexes to play outside their status??? create a new damned category that is open to both sexes or “identities” and let the players decide if they want to be on that team or not.
People need to get over themselves and quit giving in to woke ideates at the expense of the majority of players. This country needs some serious counseling.
