Press Release: Rep. Simpson Supports Bill to Stop Biden Administration’s Land Grab

WASHINGTON— This week, the United States House of Representatives passed the Western Economic Security Today (WEST) Act. Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson—a cosponsor of the WEST Act—voted in favor of this legislation. This bill withdraws the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) recently finalized “Public Lands Rule” and would prevent future issuance of a substantially similar rule. The BLM’s rule is a seismic shift in public land management that upends the agency’s multiple use mandate, which has guided land management practices across the West for 50 years.
“This rule will significantly impact how Idahoans interact and enjoy the 12 million acres of BLM land across the state,” said Rep. Simpson. “For decades, Idahoans have cherished the concept of multiple use on public lands and have proven to be responsible stewards. The rule jeopardizes years of successful management and collaboration by the very people who rely on our federal lands for ranching, grazing, recreation, and more. As Chairman of the House Interior and Environment Appropriations Subcommittee—which has jurisdiction over the BLM—I will continue to push back against this misguided rule.”

The measure was approved with a vote of 212-202.

Correct me if I’m wrong. Got the weekly Simpson standard email yesterday and behold Simpson was so proud of himself for voting no and would always vote no on government land grabs. But back in 2015 he voted for the Boulder White clouds land grab.
Sure glad to see someone running against this man.

I received an email from Simpsons’ office last week , claiming that the republican party is bound and determined to stop federal over reach. Just a week after he , and the majority of republicans in congress voted to renew FISA after protecting congress , not constituents, from warrantless over reach of the feds. . I’ll curb my comments on the republican spending spree….
…..And what is his present stand on breaching the 4 Lower Snake River dams, starving Idaho in so many ways. He has been a yes man for decades on that issue. GO CLEVELAND! VoteSimpson out May 21 primary.
I’m so glad to hear Simpson, the classic RINO enemy within, has stood up to the federal land grab. Now he can parade this and his fake support for the 2nd Amendment, and motherhood and apple pie to garner support from the uninformed Idaho voter. But the rest of the Idaho voters should remember how he has consistently stabbed us in the back when it wasn’t an election year. Like other spineless politicians, Simpson will tell you everything his conservative constituency wants to hear…then vote like a committed Democrat. Thank you Mr. Cleveland for stepping up to replace this RINO. You have my vote.
