CALDWELL –Mayor Jarom Wagoner of Caldwell is pleased to announce Jason Kuzik as his recommendation to fill the vacant Caldwell Police Department (CPD) Chief position.  The city recently held interviews where the interview committee provided the Mayor their top three choices. Mayor Wagoner ultimately decided Mr. Kuzik would be his recommendation to City Council. The Mayor has every confidence that Mr. Kuzik has the necessary experience and background to lead CPD into the future. Mayor Wagoner will present Jason Kuzik as his recommendation for Caldwell Police Chief at a special City Council meeting on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 5pm in the Caldwell Police Department community room.

Mr. Kuzik has 25 years of experience in law enforcement and currently serves as a Police Captain at Henderson Police Department in Nevada. He is a strong advocate of community policing, accountability at all levels, procedural justice, mentorship, officer wellness, community engagement, progressive ideas, victim assistance, and continual development. Mr. Kuzik started at Henderson Police Department when the population was 175,000 and has been part of the growth that currently sits at 325,000 in population. He knows firsthand how to navigate the challenges that come with a growing and vibrant community.

Jason Kuzik said, “I found Caldwell to have similarities to Henderson with a focus on community, family, and public safety. Before this exciting opportunity came about my wife, Sandy, and I already decided that Caldwell would be our home after my eventual retirement from the Henderson Police Department in a few years.  Though there have been some recent challenges within CPD, I believe the department is strong, resilient, and very capable”. Jason is humbled and looks forward to this opportunity in serving the city, community, and all the employees of CPD both sworn and non-sworn.

This is a public meeting and can be viewed online or in-person.

  1. Whatever happened to the Mayor’s first choice of the school resource officer from Nampa who also happened to be his friend?
