Press Release: Idaho Must Cut Ties with the American Library Association

The Idaho Freedom Caucus calls upon the Idaho Commission for Libraries to end its membership and cut all ties with the Marxist-led American Library Association (ALA). We call on local public and school libraries to do the same.
We have significant concerns about the election of Emily Drabinski, a self-described “Marxist lesbian,” as the next president of the ALA. Her election raises issues about libraries’ involvement in exposing children to explicit materials and injecting hard-left politics and sexuality into publicly funded libraries. With her election, have concerns about libraries’ adherence to their educational purpose and their responsible use of taxpayer funds.
Drabinski has said in interviews that librarians aren’t focused on assisting minors in accessing pornography, but her writings and public presentations reveal that she has dedicated her professional career to precisely that while using taxpayer resources. Drabinski proposed using “queer theory” to guide the way books are cataloged in libraries. Her expertise in “queer theory” aligns with the Marxist’s objective, seeking to undermine the West by eradicating the traditional family, natural sexual relationships, distinctions between sexes, and the orderly structures that accompany them.
Drabinski’s politically exclusionary statements and desire to wage war against those who disagree with her further highlight her divisive approach. It’s clear Drabinski intends to use her power as President of the ALA to promote deviance and the sexualization of children. Activists have burrowed their way into the ALA, bending the organization to promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice instead of serving an educational purpose and upholding American ideals. Their strategic plan integrates these principles into the organization’s mission, impacting Idaho libraries and attracting federal funding for DEI initiatives. The organization-wide commitment to leftist ideology has been further entrenched through the current President’s commitment to Marxism.
The ALA has provided LGBT resources and pressured libraries to include explicit materials on transgenderism and sexual deviance targeting young children. They defend the presence of sexually explicit books in school and public libraries, including titles like Gender Queer and All Boys Aren’t Blue. Some of these books are available in the Idaho Commission for Libraries IDEA database and public school libraries. This dissemination of explicit material with a far-left agenda has reached libraries throughout Idaho.
These books are explicit catechetical tools for teaching gender ideology, a sectarian, psychologically manipulative, and destructive poison for innocent children. ALA’s role in corrupting libraries and exposing children to a pernicious ideology can no longer be ignored. We have a duty to uphold the ideals of Liberty embedded in our Idaho Constitution and to protect children. For these reasons, we urge the Idaho Commission for Libraries and all public and school libraries to withdraw from the ALA immediately.

This sick, twisted individual and those who elected her along with anyone who falls under her deviant leadership should be outed, and then dismissed summarily. And that she is in the position she currently occupies makes it painfully obvious how far our country has fallen.
I feel anyone who has children of an age that might be exposed to what is now a pornographic atmosphere in any public library that is not screening out such horrible literature should be asking themselves: Whose ideals and morals do I want instilled in my child(ren)? Strangers whose sole motivation is to indoctrinate perverted ideals into these precious gifts from above…or me?
Wake up, Idaho…the enemy is at the gate, and in many cases has breached the walls! May God help us if we continue to turn a blind eye to this…
What is worse is Idaho has not done anything about this sooner.
This type of scum needs to be rooted out and eliminated from our State.
I AGREE 100%!! It needs to be rooted out and eliminated from all Idaho libraries and schools. Healthy adults protect children. The UNHEALTHY and DEVIANT adults infiltrated organizations, agencies, offices, schools and libraries with their perversion as a recruiting tool. We MUST protect our children who they want…and have chanted exactly that as they march and parade shamelessly in our streets. They have a right to do what they want to themselves…but they DO NOT have that right to DO IT TO OUR CHILDREN!!

I have never met a Nazi, Neo-nazi, KKK, or Fascist. I’ve lived in North Idaho for decades. Does anyone personally know someone who has the mindset of these terrible groups? Other than the baseless name calling, they practically don’t exist. So stop seeing these Leprechauns everywhere and under every bed. Start seeing people you disagree with for who they ARE, your neighbors, family members, co-workers, fellow Americans, and we can make America less divided again.
Why don’t we take it a step further and declare marxism and communism in all forms, a hostile and subversive ideology and movement and make it against the law for them to operate in the state.

Getting out of the ALA is a good first step! I concur. I hope that Idahoans open their eyes and realize that we are in a battle here. It is everywhere, but don’t be fooled — it’s here, too. I have seen some of the books that are in several libraries in Idaho, where young children have access to them. There is nothing that can be said to justify these kinds of materials being accessible to small children. The argument is indefensible! I am a woman in her 70s and I have never in my life seen illustrations so vile! These books are “how to” books on perversion. There’s no other way to describe them. If you have taken the side of the ALA, you may wish to take a look for yourself. And, as to those who argue that this is censorship, you’re wrong. No one is burning these books. The books need to be kept out of the hands of children too young for this kind of exposure. Though, if there were ever any books that should be burned — these would be the books!

I remember when video stores would segregate “Adult” material in an area inaccessible to children. If a parent wanted the material in their home they we’re free to check it out for their households consumption. I think this is a reasonable alternative for libraries to adopt if they really care about children’s mental health and childhood innocence. I’m not naive enough to think they’d do it w/o proper legislation.

From 2019 to 2020, the relative increase in the rate of firearm-related deaths of all types (suicide, homicide, unintentional, and undetermined) among children and adolescents was 29.5% — more than twice as high as the relative increase in the general population. Pretending to be concerned about kids is the first step the Fascist GOP and their cover organization the Freedom Foundation throws out! It doesn’t change…worry about the kids that aren’t being exposed to anything!
