Op-Ed: Pocatello Awards Drag Queen Story Time an Award for “Human and Civil Rights,” Igniting Concerns from Parents Over Child Exposure to Gender Confusion

By • December 3, 2023

They tell us it’s not happening in Idaho. They also tell us it’s a good thing that it is.

Earlier this week, the City of Pocatello honored a drag queen story time group with their “Human and Civil Rights” award. They specifically lauded the group for “providing educational spaces for children.”

It’s clear that this award was given in response to recent protests by concerned parents against exposing children to drag events and the gender confusion they promote. It’s no exaggeration to say that there are people out there who really are after your kids, and they will call anyone who stands up to them “bigoted” and “hateful.”

Drag story time for children is not just innocent fun. Drag queens are often highly sexualized and they deliberately blur the line between male and female. These events push a radical leftist ideology to confuse young children about their gender. It’s one thing for adults to choose to enjoy this type of activity, but another to push it onto innocent children.

The Idaho Republican Platform is explicit in its support of children and families. Children are the future, more precious than anything else in the world, and protecting them and their innocence is the paramount duty for all parents. Article XIV, Section 4 of the Platform states: “We strongly oppose any person, entity, or policy that attempts to confuse minors regarding their biological gender.”

Children deserve to be raised in an environment where they can safely grow and develop. Drag story times are designed to interrupt that process, to cause children to question ideas about sex and gender before they are mature enough for such subjects. They are designed to circumvent the role of parents in bringing their children up according to their values.

Republican elected officials must do their part to protect children from these overtly sexual and confusing performances. The question is not why children should be exposed to drag queens, but why adults with crossdressing fetishes are so interested in being around our children.

This is also a reminder that local elections are very important. This drag group was chosen to be honored by the Human Relations Advisory Committee, which is made up of people ultimately appointed by the mayor and city council of Pocatello. Voters need to start asking candidates for local office where they stand on sexualizing children, because it’s happening in communities all across our state and our nation.

One of the most important and most difficult duties of parents today is to protect the innocence of their children. It’s disappointing to see organizations and municipalities deliberately making this job that much harder.

The message from the Idaho Republican Party remains simple and clear: We will always oppose the sexualization and gender confusion of children.

    1. Maybe you need to Move then this is a state that DOES NOT believe in the sexualization of our children or the mutualization of them Let the grow up and Parents make the call not you. You make the call on your own Children not everyone’s. Move else where if you do not like our rules.

  1. US Communist Party: Included in its 45 goals to take down the US of A:
#17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

Do read all their goals read into 1963 congressional record, you’ll marvel at their progress:

  2. This CRAP has no place in our public schools, PERIOD! It’s not cute or innocent, it’s purely Demonic and from the pit of Hell! Luke 17:2 “It would be better for him if a millstone were tied around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea , than that he should offend one of these little ones.” These morons trying to pollute the minds of these innocent children are literally going to have Hell to pay!

  3. Thank God for Moon. The establishment loathe here, just like they do Labrador.

Speak out!, when you see this leftist garbage!
We cannot be silent or passive- the well funded and aggressive left is here and they will take over unless we fight them. While our establishment rinos feed us Lip Service and get wealthy way beyond their salary as “public servants”.
    Right Simpson?

  4. No clowns, child cheerleaders, child beauty contests, or actresses playing male roles and visa a versa. It’s a slippery slope!

  5. I did not devote 22 years of my life to defending this lunacy! I doubt any of my forebears did, either. We need to take a stand. Thanks for your clear message on the GOP’s commitment to stop the destruction of our western values.

    1. Hoorah Sir,
I did 22 years myself and it’s definitely not what I sacrificed my commitment for. I will always stand for freedom and support of the Constitution

  6. When will we finally realize that government education, being a free handout or welfare state is no where found in the constitution. Government schools have now produced generations of parents and children that think the government owes them and their children a free education, and they don’t know any better. It takes from parents their responsibility to teach their own children. Parents basically depend on the state to raise their children. One of the 10 planks of the communist manifesto is free education for all children. Kruschev said that we will keep feeding Americans small doses of socialism…and they will fall like overripe fruit into our hands. Socialism leads to communism and communism leads to slavery…and we are there.

  7. Thank you Both for your Service. Maj Dale Wilson and Joe Fajardo I done 22 Plus years and this is not acceptable For the country that is served for.

  8. What a bunch of sico’s. They don’t need an award, they need a Psychiatrist. If you’re Gay, it doesn’t bother me, but when you stick it in my face like these drag shows, that’s where I draw the line. “GET A LIFE”.
