Yesterday, President Joe Biden signed an Executive Order directing his administration to tighten up restrictions on “ghost guns” and pistol braces.
The Biden administration says more action is coming on gun control in the near future. Biden also encouraged Congress to send him additional gun control measures.
Currently, there are over two dozen gun control proposals that have been submitted in Congress. One of the proposals, H.R. 8, has bi-partisan support and is commonly called “Universal Background Checks” and has passed through the U.S. House and is now before the U.S. Senate.
With the current discussion on gun control in Congress and the President’s executive action, 670 KBOI’s Nate Shelman asked Governor Brad Little his thoughts on what Joe Biden said about the 2nd Amendment.
Here is the response Little gave Shelman:
In part of the interview, Shelman asked Little what Idaho could do to protect their right to keep and bear arms from federal gun control. Here is what Little told Shelman,
I’d have to look at a specific threat that exists out there. I know there’s a lot of them that are rumored, but I don’t know anybody right now that thinks their, that you know, can show that their right to own and possess a firearm, for whether it be recreation, whether it be for self-protection, whatever it is, that there’s threats there, but that doesn’t mean that we won’t look at it and address it as needed.
