Breaking: Boise Independence Day Parade Bans Open Carry for Participants

The Independence Day parade is back in the city of Boise.

The parade was gone for a few years. This year, a new group has come together to host the event.

We The People 4th of July Parade Celebration, Inc. (We The People) is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit. This organization is the facilitator of the parade. Additionally, Outdoor Event Group is contracted by We The People to function as the event organizer.”

The information about the event can be found on the new website, Idaho 4th of July Parade from Boise (boise4th.com)

Participants have been preparing their floats and entries for the event, which is now just a few days away. Dated June 27, but sent out June 28, just 6 days ahead of the festivities, an email landed in their inboxes that caused some to pause.

The organizers of the parade have decided to add an addendum to the rules that were originally sent to entrants. The text of the addendum reads,

“Additionally, in consultation with local public safety officials, the parade organizers add the following parade entry requirement which all entries must follow:

No open carry of weapons or firearms will be permitted. The only exception to this is sworn law enforcement officers, uniformed military Honor Guard personnel or those participating in an authorized armed Color Guard.

This additional parade entry requirement ensures the focus on the parade’s intent to safely celebrate our Nation’s founding. The parade organizers greatly appreciate your adherence to this amended entry requirement.”

The addendum is an attached document that requires the parade participant to agree to the new terms, sign the addendum document, and return the signed document to the organizers before the parade on Tuesday.

Greg Pruett of the Idaho Second Amendment Alliance responded to the addendum email sent to parade participants by saying,

“Just as we anticipated, the Supreme Court’s decision to undermine the right to keep and bear arms on public property in Idaho has already begun. Of all the days for the organizers of the parade to put restrictions on the second amendment, it has to be on “Independence Day.” These restrictions by private organizations on public property is only going to get worse. How long before Mayor McLean decides that all Boise city parks will be ran by a nonprofit organization who will then ban firearms throughout the city. It’s coming, unless the legislature acts and fixes the problem.”

  1. Interesting concept, celebrating Independence Day, which, by the way was won with “guns,” only now to be celebrated in Boise by banning guns, odd. Some sense of history you all have going there.

    1. Great point. Maybe in protest, all audience members should open carry at the parade and all parade participants should at least concealed carry. Side note: The new Las Vegas attempted mass shooting was stopped by an armed employee, yet the fake news neglected to mention that.

It wouldn’t be a normal day in Idaho, or the United States, unless the wanna-be fascist dictators known as the Democrat Party were trying to undermine our constitutional rights and remove them because they somehow believe they know what is right and good and true for everyone. Of course, there ideology and rhetoric is infectious because the IDGOP somehow thought it was a good idea to decide for the people who it is okay, and not okay, to vote for because we are too stupid to do it ourselves.

  3. Let’s change the name from “Independence Day” parade to to “Subjection Day” parade. And bring signs to alert attendees so they know what they are celebrating.

The woke crowd wants to Celebrate Independence Day with oppression by undermining the constitutional rights of Idahoans. The irony is obvious to freedom loving Idahoans with critical thinking skills, but to the woke crowd, tyrannical edicts on Independence Day make perfect sense.

  15. This is what happens when we listen to transplants saying “ oh we will vote accordingly “ .
    They only vote according to however they voted in the previous state they ran away from. They’ve all had the plan of moving to our beloved states, posing as conservatives, and changing our laws. A lot of other states have had similar issues.
    It is our job to research these potential candidates and weed them out.
    Is it work? Yep. Is it worth it to save our state? Darn straight it is.
    Think about this or we are going to see 75,000 little Lunatic Lauren’s running every City in Idaho, doing this exact thing.

  16. Open carry anyway. They can’t arrest somebody for open carry on a public street. The addendum only says you reviewed the rule, not that you agreed to follow it.

  17. Gun grabbers need a mass shooting to take place at any public place or event in Idaho where many are gathered. They need it and they know they need it in their agenda. They need a crisis to happen. If it took place, and law abiding citizens left their protective devices at home; it is the perfect environment for a lunatic to go on a rampage that ends the lives of many. It’s why leftists in charge recoil at the slightest hint of allowing schools protection they demand at courthouses and airports they frequent.

    Question would be is it a typical watered down government bill and that is what the Idaho supreme court ruled on.
    How many times has this happened even though it has been brought up by numerous organizations how many loop holes a bill has and how to fix it, our so called Republican elected officials do nothing.
    What ever happened to the idea of term limits instead of enriching themselves at the tax payers expense.
