Video: Idaho Pledges Delegates to Trump; He Gives Shout Out to Idaho

By • July 17, 2024

President Donald Trump has received all 32 of Idaho’s delegates for the Republican nomination for President of the United States.

Trump made a surprise appearance on the first day of the convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, just days after the assassination attempt on his life. He entered the arena with a bandage over his right ear. Trump said the bullet pierced the upper part of the year, and it was only through the grace of God that he is alive.

Idaho’s delegation was led by Idaho GOP Chair Dorothy Moon, who pledged all Idaho’s 32 delegates to Trump, and the Idaho delegation finished by chanting “fight, fight, fight,” a reference to Trump’s words after he stood up from the assassination attempt and told the crowd to fight.

You can view Idaho’s pledge video below (story continues after).

Idaho Dispatch asked one of the delegates, Maria Nate, what security has been like compared to past conventions. She told Idaho Dispatch,

“I feel very safe and secure at the convention. There is security everywhere, and they are doing a great job. We appreciate their service.”

We also asked Nate what it was like seeing Trump in person since the assassination attempt. She replied,

“When Trump entered the room, the crowd was electric, and Trump was clearly deeply moved by the welcome. There is a different feeling in the air. We understand the absolute importance of getting him elected president. We are all MAGA now!!”

Nate also serves as the Idaho GOP Secretary and the Director of the State Freedom Caucus Network.

Idaho’s delegation also received a personal shout-out from Trump. The delegates were located in seating below Trump, and in a video recorded by delegate and National Committeeman Bryan Smith, the group yelled, “Idaho loves Trump.”

Trump then looks down at the delegation and appears to say, “Potatoes. Famous potatoes.”

You can view the video below.

Trump was seated during the event with his new vice presidential running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), Tucker Carlson, and Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).

The convention runs from July 15th through July 18th.
