    Regarding taking tips from public: As a reader, I believe it’s important not to simply publish allegations that may or may not be true, as a false allegation can harm someone permanently and leave you open to legal trouble.

    So, would you consider creating a ***secure**** Citizen Tips form that can provide you with background information to support the citizen’s reports/concerns/allegations? Ask the citizen to include what you need to know — who, what, when, where, and why (with any available links, photos, audio and video) — along with contact info. The form could give you everything (or almost everything) you need to begin a solid investigation.
