Anthon’s election as pro tem comes after Chuck Winder was defeated in the May primary. Winder was elected as pro tem in 2020.

The other leadership positions for the Republican side of the aisle in the Senate will be:

Sen. Lori Den Hartog (R – Meridian) – Majority Leader
Sen. Mark Harris (R – Soda Springs) – Assistant Majority Leader
Sen. Ben Toews (R – Coeur d’Alene) – Caucus Chair

Committee assignments, such as chairmanships and vice chairmanships, will be announced later this week.
