Op-Ed: Idaho Republican Party Gears Up for a Vibrant Showdown as Six Presidential Hopefuls File Their Candidacy for the 2024 Presidential Election

By • December 10, 2023

We are proud to announce that six candidates for President have filed for the Idaho Republican Caucus. On Saturday, March 2, 2024, Republican voters throughout our great state will gather in churches, schools, and community halls to hear from the candidates and decide which one will take Idaho’s 32 delegates to the Republican National Convention next summer.

The first candidate to file for our caucus was none other than former President Donald J. Trump. He was followed by Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida, former South Carolina Governor and Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, American businessman and author Vivek Ramaswamy, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, and finally, Texas businessman and pastor Ryan L. Binkley.

We are excited that these six dynamic Republicans have chosen to take part in the Idaho Presidential Caucus. We hope that each candidate will take advantage of the opportunity to visit our great state in person and speak directly to Republican voters here in Idaho.

Now that our six candidates are officially declared, we are working hard to finalize the plan so our counties and districts will be able to hold a successful caucus in March. Once we pass the registration deadline of December 31, we will print poll books for each precinct with the names of over 500,000 registered Republican voters in Idaho.

We are also creating signs, flyers, advertisements, and all the other elements to help our local PCs promote the caucus to their neighbors and communities. We will make sure that every caucus location has the tools for a smooth and successful event.

Each candidate will have the opportunity to share their vision with caucus-goers, whether in person, by video, or through a designated representative. We fervently hope that all six candidates take the time to visit our great state and meet with Republican voters in person. We have officially invited each one to join us for the Idaho GOP Winter Meeting in January as well as all the upcoming Lincoln Day events.

We were left with very few choices when the Legislature made the decision to remove the March primary, so I am proud of how the Idaho Republican State Central Committee and our state party office jumped into action to make this caucus a reality. In addition to being among the first in the nation to nominate our candidate for president, Republican voters have a great opportunity to get to know their neighbors and build the connections that are so important for our communities.

Remember to ensure that you are registered to vote by December 31 to be eligible for the caucus on March 2, 2024. We can’t wait to see you there!

  1. May I inguire…. Does this mean there will be no primary in May? And why can the democrats be able to change their party preference right up to May23rd…. This is what happens… They change in december to a fake republican to influence our elections and then switch back to a demon in May… Isnt that what happened in 2022…and 2020…etc

  2. The dumbed down Tv watchers will either as usual and with our discernment reelect their incumbent again or whom ever their Tv tells them to chose.
