Day 3 Recap of Bundy/Von Schmidt Trespassing Trial
By Greg Pruett • June 30, 2021Today was day three in the Ammon Bundy and Aaron Von Schmidt trespassing trial.
Bundy is also facing an additional charge of “resisting arrest.” That charge can also include “obstructing” or “delaying” arrest.
In the video at the end of this article, Idaho Dispatch will recap the trial from today as well as what to expect going into tomorrow.
Day three included the state’s last witness, House Speaker Scott Bedke, as well as a number of defense witnesses.
Defense witnesses included Sen. Christy Zito (R-Hammett), Rep. Judy Boyle (R-Midvale), Diego Rodriguez, Miste Gardener, and others.
Finally, the day ended with Bundy himself taking the stand. The judge ended the day part way through Bundy’s cross-examination.
Tomorrow, it is anticipated that Bundy will be finished testifying and there is the potential for one more witness, Rep. Tammy Nichols (R-Middleton) to testify for the defense.
Additionally, there is a possibility of Sgt. Blake Higley testifying again on behalf of the prosecution.
Once the state and defense have both rested their cases, they will give their closing arguments. The jury will then deliberate and try to conclude on whether Von Schmidt is guilty of trespassing, and whether Bundy is guilty of trespassing and/or the resisting charge.
