Constitution Party of Idaho Holds Convention, Selects Presidential Nominee
By Greg Pruett • August 5, 2024The Constitution Party of Idaho held its party convention last Saturday, held every two years in even years.
Members of CP-Idaho met in Meridian to select their presidential candidate and party leaders and to approve the bylaws. Joel Skousen was selected by CP-Idaho members at the convention to be the presidential nominee on the ballot line this November.
Skousen is an author and Brigham Young University graduate. He is also the nephew of W. Cleon Skousen. Skousen is 77 and has seven “Campaign Talking Points” on his website.
Some of those talking points include the paralyzation of politics, limited government solutions, the “deep state,” the border, and more.
Tony Ullrich, a candidate for State House in District 8, was selected as Party Chairman. Ullrich has been the Chairman for the last two years. Miste Karlfeldt was chosen as Vice Chairwoman, and Sarah Clendenon was selected as Secretary.
Ullrich said of the convention,
“I am pleased we had a better than average attendance. We were able to complete all our business in a timely manner. Miste Gardner, as Vice Chair, is a welcome addition to an already outstanding leadership team that has worked well together over the last two years and will continue to do so. Mistie is full of fresh ideas to help the party grow and prosper. I see big things coming in the future.”
Karlfeldt told Idaho Dispatch about being selected as Vice Chairwoman:
“The Constitution Party convention was a success this year. It was wonderful to see more people taking part in the voting process. Our Sheriff candidate, Doug Traubel, gave an informative demonstration about the importance of a Constitutional Sheriff. Our presidential candidate, Joel Skousen, was able to join us and give a data-driven speech to the Constitution Party members who were in attendance. I’m honored to serve as the Constitution Party Vice-Chair and look forward to working for liberty in Idaho. “
In addition to Skouse, CP-Idaho has two congressional candidates, four legislative candidates, and one sheriff (Ada County) candidate on the ballot this November. The next convention for CP-Idaho will be in August 2026.
Note: Greg Pruett served as the Vice Chairman of the Constitution Party of Idaho. Miste Karlfeldt is a former owner of the Idaho Dispatch.

So glad to have conservative candidates.
None of those watered down Democrats running as Republicans.
Constitution Party is hardcore, that’s why statists hate us!
Please vote Principle over Party in the November 5 General Election. For example, if you are a Republican, consider casting your vote for a Constitutional Party or Independent candidate if he or she is more principled than the Republican opposition.
Having an “R” after one’s name does not guarantee a conservative or principled approach! In Idaho, especially, many “R” Republican legislators often are philosophically closer to and vote with Democrats; but these less-principled people know they must be an “R” to win elections so they claim Republican affiliation.
VOTERS: Be discerning. Be analytical. Be informed.
Crapo, Risch and Simpson need to go. Yet the dumbed down Idahoans keep on reelecting them.
