BSU Star Runningback Gives Glory to God as Heisman Vote Coming Tomorrow

By • December 13, 2024

Boise State Broncos Heisman nominee Ashton Jeanty says his identity is in Jesus Christ, as a vote on the Heisman will occur tomorrow.

While Idaho Dispatch typically focuses on political news, something is happening at BSU, particularly the football team, that is a breath of fresh air compared to many sports teams. Some of the good news also came from the BSU women’s volleyball team standing up to woke ideology.

The football team, led by Coach Spencer Danielson, has created a culture of God-fearing, respectable young men. On top of football, their focus is always on giving glory to God and raising good men rather than focusing on themselves.

Danielson said that part of the culture that kept Jeanty from transferring to a bigger school and getting paid a lot more was that culture and a legacy Jeanty wanted to leave in Boise.

Jeanty has already won the Doak Walker Award for being the top running back in the country. He also won the Maxwell Award, given to the “player of the year.”

Jeanty is also just 132 yards shy of breaking Barry Sanders’s record for rushing yards in a season. Jeanty likely would have broken the record by now but sat out for eight quarters this season due to the Bronco’s large lead over some of their opponents.

Despite all his success, Jeanty says he remains focused on Christy, saying in an Instagram post:

“I like to say that I’m a Christian cleverly disguised as an All-American running back. I’ve learned that God has blessed me with amazing talents. I’ve just been able to do a lot of great things with it, but at the same time, not losing yourself in it and understanding that my identity is in Christ.”

Athletes and teams focusing on something bigger than themselves are a welcome change to the “look at me” attitude of so many others.

The odds of Jeanty winning the Heisman trophy are currently at +1000, while Colorado’s Travis Hunter is expected to win the trophy with -2,500 odds currently. If you wish to watch the Heisman trophy presentation, it will be broadcast on ESPN on Saturday at 6 p.m. Mountain time.
