Correction and Apology Regarding a Portion of Von Ehlinger Article
By Greg Pruett • April 21, 2021One of the things we want to do at the Idaho Dispatch is admit when we have made a mistake and ensure that we take responsibility for making corrections to errors we have made.
Recently, we ran an article about a rape accusation being made against Rep. Aaron von Ehlinger (R-Lewiston).
As a news site, we made the decision to redact the name of the accuser throughout the article. You will find no mention of her name in the article as we felt it was standard practice in the media to not name accusers.
The article itself was published before the attachments containing the letters were posted.
While the article was live, our staff was hand-redacting the letter from von Ehlinger’s attorney, and the accuser’s name was being removed. However, when I emailed my web team the attachments to upload into the article, I sent them the redacted House Ethics Committee letter and the original letter (unredacted) and did not double-check to ensure the redacted version was sent. The web team simply posted the letters that I had sent, not realizing I didn’t want the unredacted version posted.
This was an error on my part and I take responsibility for the mistake that I made.
Our intention was clear but my error occurred regardless and I want to apologize for that. The letter was removed and the redacted version will be posted in its place.
Sincerely,
Greg Pruett

What a joke Idaho is. The state should be ashamed of how it treated the rape victim.
There is no rape victim until a jury decides there is.
But you posted her picture. That’s shameful.
We never posted her picture. We never posted her name in the article itself. It was an attachment that we had redacted and accidentally uploaded the unredacted version. You are mixing our site up with another one, Redoubt News.
