Conservative Candidates Run for Library Positions in ADA County, Idaho.
Election Day is May 16, 2023
On May 16, 2023, residents of ADA county (Idaho) will be voting in the Consolidated Election. Early voting starts May 1, 2023.
Deborah Pogue and Reneé Trommler announce they are running for the Ada County Free Library District elected positions. The Ada County Free Library District was officially established in August, 1984 to provide library services for residents in Ada County by contracting for services at the five established city libraries in the valley. It later became known as the Ada Community Library, which includes Hidden Springs, Lake Hazel, Star, Victory libraries.
Deborah A. Pogue is running for a 4-year term and Reneé L. Trommler is running for a 6-year term.
Both say they decided to run after learning about the lack of fiscal transparency of the $5.2m of property taxes collected each year by the library.
Pogue stated, “beyond wanting to apply my financial acumen and business experience to oversee our taxpayer dollars, I also was shocked to learn our libraries have sexualized books in the children and teen section. As a mom and conservative, I decided to run.”
Trommler says, “I couldn’t believe it until I saw it for myself. I saw books in the children and teen section that contain pictures and content that are clearly not appropriate for children. So, I decided to run for office.”
Xavier Torres and David Tizekker announce they are running for the Meridian Library District Board of Trustees. Xavier Torres is running for a 6-year term and David J. Tizekker is running for 4-year term.
Tizekker, a father and local businessman says his kids and family have tremendously enjoyed all the programs and books offered at the Meridian Library. He stated,
“my family is excited about the opportunity for me to be part of the library. We love the library and want to see it thrive, while providing opportunities for kids and adults to learn and connect. Xavier said, “I have fond memories of volunteering in my local library and having a safe haven to go to when my parents were working. I want my three kids to have the same learning opportunities and programs that I enjoyed.”
Both Tizekker and Torres want to support and optimize existing library programs, while also applying conservative community standards to create an exceptional experience for everyone that visits the library. Both are committed to promoting the idea of implementing a citizens group to review books, programs and services offered to the community.
All four candidates have been endorsed by Conservativesof PAC.
The Conservativesof PAC believes it is time for genuinely Conservative, pro-family Board Trustees to be elected. It is important that our Trustees protect the innocence of our children by ensuring our libraries meet community standards for people of all ages. For these reasons, we endorsed Conservative candidates Xavier Torres and David Tizekker for Meridian Board Trustees and Deborah Pogue and Reneé Trommler for the Ada County Free Library District.
A representative from the ConservativesofPAC says,
“we don’t support some Library candidates, such as Democrat Destinie Hart, currently a trustee on the Meridian Library Board. Hart testified against a library bill during the 2023 legislative session.”
Hart falsely claimed, “There is no pornography in our libraries,” and said, “There is no obscene material in our libraries.”
Hart said she opposed the library bill because she thinks it’s unnecessary.
