Two Anti-Illegal Immigration Bills Signed by Little this Session
By Greg Pruett • April 4, 2025Governor Brad Little has signed HB 135, curbing non-emergency healthcare benefits for illegal aliens, which marks the second piece of legislation he signed into law this session dealing with illegal immigration.
What’s Happening: While President Donald Trump’s administration deals with illegal immigration on one front, states have started passing legislation to address the issue. Idaho has passed two pieces of legislation, HB 135 and HB 83. HB 83 has been blocked in court after an ACLU lawsuit.
HB 83 creates state-level crimes for entry and re-entry into Idaho by an illegal alien.
Digging Deeper: While Little signed those two pieces of legislation, another popular bill never reached his desk. HB 252 would establish an E-Verify program in Idaho; however, after its introduction, the bill never left the House State Affairs Committee.
It’s important to note that several Republicans voted against HB 135 in the Senate: Guthrie, Lent, and Burtenshaw.
In the House, the following Representatives voted against HB 135: Cheatum, Clow, Fuhriman, Furniss, Handy, Manwaring, McCann, Miller, Nelsen, Pickett, Raymond, Sauter, and Wheeler.
It was the welfare for illegal immigrants issue that ultimately took down former Representative Megan Blanksma (R-Hammet). Could this vote be the downfall of these Republican lawmakers?

The legislators you mentioned have been on the wrong side of right on many bills this session. We hope voters in their districts will take notice.
Those in LD8 noticed, ousting Blanksma, Bundy, and Schroeder, replacing them with superstars Zito, Thompson, and Beiswenger.
What must happen:
1. Voters must pay attention to what the incumbents are doing.
2. Good candidates must challenge the incumbents.
3. Voters must elect the good candidates.
Three simple steps, easier said than done, of course!
