Twin Falls Sheriff Warns Protesters: Violence Will Not Be Tolerated

By • June 12, 2025

Twin Falls County Sheriff has issued a warning to protesters who may want to commit acts of violence against persons or property this weekend.

What’s Happening: The No King protest is expected to take place across Idaho this weekend. One of the nationwide protests, scheduled for June 14, will take place in Twin Falls.

Twin Falls Sheriff Jack Johnson issued the following statement ahead of the protest:

“Good day, Twin Falls County,

As your Sheriff, I want to reaffirm that one of the primary responsibilities of law enforcement is to preserve public safety and uphold the rights guaranteed by both the Idaho State Constitution and the United States Constitution.

On June 14th, public demonstrations are expected across the State of Idaho, including here in Twin Falls. The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and Article I, Section 10 of the Idaho Constitution protect the rights of individuals to peacefully assemble and express their views.

If you choose to participate in a protest or counter-protest in our community, we ask that you do so peacefully, respectfully, and lawfully. While we support your right to free speech, actions such as violence, destruction of property, or assaults on others—including law enforcement—are not protected expressions and will be met with appropriate legal response.

We are committed to protecting both the rights of individuals and the safety of the public. Let’s work together to ensure any demonstrations held in Twin Falls reflect the civility and respect our community values.

Thank you, and stay safe.”

Digging Deeper: Two Idaho sheriffs have now issued similar statements about the upcoming No Kings protest. The other statement came from Kootenai County’s sheriff.
