Protest Expected Tonight at Boise City Hall Over LGBT Flag Resolution
By Greg Pruett • May 6, 2025Protesters are expected at Boise City Hall tonight as the city council votes on a resolution to adopt official city flags, including the LGBT flag.
What’s Happening: Protesters are expected to gather at Boise City Hall from 5:00 p.m. MT to 7:00 p.m. MT on Boise City Hall grounds.
The city of Boise is defying House Bill 96, which Governor Brad Little signed into law. The city is taking a new approach to dealing with the issue. The legislation states that official city flags, in addition to the U.S. flag and a few other select flags, can fly on city grounds.
Digging Deeper: The move by the Boise city council is likely intended to stave off potential retaliation from Little, who still has not made a public statement about the issue, or lawmakers withholding tax revenue.
While conservatives continue to grow frustrated with McLean’s defiance, this move to make the LGBT flag an official city flag likely removes any immediate threat to the city.

I am a resident of district 6. I do not consent to the Pride Flag being adopted as a city flag.
