NNU Takes Down LGBT Display After Nampa Senator’s Post on X

By • June 11, 2025

A display featuring LGBT-related books at Northwest Nazarene University (NNU) was removed several days after State Sen. Brian Lenney (R-Nampa) posted about it on social media.

On June 6, Lenney posted a picture of a display located in the Education, Social Work, and Counseling building on NNU’s campus. NNU is a private Christian university located in Nampa.

Here is the picture that Lenney posted on X,

Some of the books included in the display are “Everything You Wanted to Know About Trans,” “Conservative Christian Beliefs and Sexual Orientation in Social Work,” and “LGBTQ People & Issues, an Integrative Approach.”

Lenney commented on his X post, saying,

“While BSU closes down their DEI centers, NNU doubles down on woke.”

Yesterday, Lenney posted a video update showing that the display had been taken down. Here is a still shot of the display:

Idaho Dispatch asked Lenney what prompted him to do the initial post and what reaction he has had from school administrators, if any. Lenney responded by saying,

“I heard about the pro-LGBT display at NNU from some people on campus, and when I went to see it myself, I was a bit shocked. This school is in my city and district. As a Christian, I found it to be wildly out of line with Scripture, and although I’m not a Nazarene, I’m pretty sure John Wesley would be rolling over in his grave if he saw this. Indoctrinating young people with woke garbage has no place in any school, especially at a supposed “Christian” university. All I was doing was making people aware, that’s it.

I haven’t seen any response from NNU at all. I even called the president’s office and left a message but haven’t heard back or seen any official statement.”

Idaho Dispatch also asked Lenney what he believes the university should do now that the display has been removed. Lenney told us,

“The school probably should explain what happened. I’d want to know if I had kids attending. The fact that they receive federal and state funding (via the Idaho LAUNCH program) is also noteworthy.”

Idaho Dispatch reached out to NNU for comment but has not received a response at this time.

  1. Actually, John Wesley has been rolling over in his grave for quite some time as he was the founder of the Methodist Church which has gone totally woke. Dr. Bresee and Dr. Widney founded the church of the Nazarene as an offshoot of the Methodist Church in 1895. It was to refocus the Methodist church on attending the needs of the poor in Los Angeles, of all places. LGBT is an affront to the belief that God created man in His image and especially, transgenderism, also known as gender dysphoria, is essentially a claim that God made a mistake.

  2. “Conservative Christian Beliefs and Sexual Orientation in Social Work” actually seems like it might be good for conservative counsellors treating gay clients.

  3. I am waiting for the book burnings to begin because following that they will soon be burning people.
We are a secular society being dominated by a bigoted theocracy.

  4. Here is what the bible say. Scripture forbids it. Matthew 19: 4-6 Haven’t you read the scriptures? Jesus replied. They record that from the beginning God made them male and female. And he said, This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife and the two are united into one. Not man and man, woman and woman, but MALE and FEMALE. NNU is a christen university and has been for over 75 years and has no place for LBGT media, books or lifestyle
