Kootenai County Sheriff Issues Warning Ahead of June 14 Protests

By • June 12, 2025

Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris has issued a statement regarding the upcoming protests planned nationwide, including over a dozen in Idaho.

What’s Happening: Several “No Kings” protests are planned in northern Idaho, including one in Coeur d’Alene. The anti-President Donald Trump protests are the result of numerous left-wing organizations and individuals who are unhappy with Trump’s presidency.

As is typical with these protests, however, some leftist agitators want violence and to create chaos. Anyone thinking of doing that was who Norris was targeting in his message.

Norris released a warning to those going to protest that they would not tolerate violence or damage to property. Norris said in his press release, in full,

“As your Sheriff, I want to reaffirm that one of the primary responsibilities of law enforcement is to preserve the peace and uphold the rights guaranteed by both the Idaho and United Sates Constitutions.

On June 14, 2025, public demonstrations are expected across the United States, including here in Kootenai County. The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution protects the right of individuals to peacefully assemble and express their views.

If you choose to participate in a protest or counter protest in our community, I ask that you do so peacefully, respectfully, and lawfully. While I fully support your right to free speech, actions involving violence, destruction of property, including those against law enforcement officers, will be met with a swift and lawful response.

I remain firmly committed to protecting your constitutional rights and preserving public order in Kootenai County. The rule of law will prevail in our community.”

Digging Deeper: Violence has been seen in many anti-ICE protests across the country. Los Angeles, Atlanta, Denver, and other major cities have seen riots, especially during the evening hours.

Will Boise or any of Idaho’s bigger cities see violence?

  1. Let’s see the real truth in action, is Kootenai County really turning to the left or woke? Illegal aliens, under our laws, are to be arrested and deported! President Trump is doing what we asked him to do!!

  2. I like that the sheriff included “counterprotesters” in his warning … seems like a reasonable statement all around.

  3. I wonder what would happen if we entered Mexico illegally, took to the streets waving USA flags, while burning Mexico flags and negatively commenting on Mexico’s corrupt government and cartel state.

    1. You don’t read or speak spanish, so you would get lost before you even get to the protest. You would then meet and start a lifelong relationship with a man named Big Pancho somewhere in the Mexico desert.

  4. I don’t have issue, in general, with illegal aliens being sent back. My issue is with how heavy-handed it has become. Criminals- hell yes. College students already granted permission to study here- hell no. There are a lot of hard working people here that deserve a chance. There was a bride returning from her honeymoon to an American and was snatched. There was a couple from Turkey(?) that had a sandwich shop in New York for 30 years and were snatched. These are the types of issues that I think need to be addressed.

There are a lot of American living in other countries and I don’t hear of them getting the same treatment.

  5. Americans have a right to peaceful protest, illegal aliens have zero rights.
For all those who want to come here to agitate and instigate f*** around and find out.

  6. All I see is that the right wing and Trump loyalists are the only ones promoting violence. The Constitution is clear about our right to peacefully assemble, and the Indivisable organization is actively promoting for protesters to sit quietly, so that paid instigators will be the only ones inciting violence. It will be easy to tell the difference. It is shameful that the media is constantly showing us how to hate our neighbors. Sad.

    1. I’m not seeing what you are. What I’m seeing as far as violence and destruction example L.A., Denver and Atlanta is not the work of the right wing and Trump loyalists. And as far as politicians its been the left side of the aisle calling for violence example A.O.C., Alex Padia, Melanie Stansbury, LaMonica McIver, Doug Halter, Jasmine Crocket, Oh I could go on and on but I believe what I see not what someone says I see,

  7. If you were watching on January 6th you would have seen fear and intimidation of those who were in the chambers of the capitol bldg. When thugs begin to take over our society it is no longer a USA that can be proud of itself. Violence is not welcome from anyone.
