Gov. Little Signs Amended Medical Freedom Act
By Greg Pruett • April 4, 2025Governor Brad Little has signed the Medical Freedom Act, SB 1210a.
What’s Happening: The final piece of legislation for the 2025 Idaho legislative session came down to the MFA. The bill was widely debated, and much controversy ensued about what Little wanted and what amendments would be acceptable to lawmakers.
Insiders tell me that there was a lot of back and forth between the chambers and others who did not like the initial version that came out of the Senate (SB 1210). However, once both sides came together on amendments to SB 1210, they believed they had a path forward that would be acceptable to Little.
Digging Deeper: Health Freedom Idaho was the primary organization pushing for the MFA. Miste Karlfeldt told Idaho Dispatch about the legislation being signed into law:
“With the Health Freedom Act signed into law, Idaho is now the freest state in the nation.
Idahoans have medical freedom inherently because it is our birthright. Now, medical freedom is supported by Idaho Law.
AdvertisementOur rights were violated during the Covid debacle. Idahoans should know that we are in a much better position now. The governor signed H32 banning masks from being required in government buildings. Idaho children will never again be required to wear masks in school.
We also passed S1031 which rolls back the Health Districts power from being able to do “all things” for public health to “necessary and reasonable” things. These have been great victories, protecting our God given rights.
We have set the bar and now other states in the nation are modeling bills after Idaho’s Medical Freedom act written by Health Freedom Idaho board member and President of Health Freedom Defense Fund, Leslie Manookian.
Louisiana has one right now they are hoping will pass because Idaho was brave enough to pass this monumental legislation. We hope to see all states secure their medical freedom rights as we have in the great state of Idaho.”
This concludes Idaho’s 2025 legislative session.

And who, pray tell, defines for the Health Department what the words “reasonable and necessary” mean? I am both pleased and bothered by this bill’s passage in that it took back room verbal jousting in order to gain the governor’s signature. Broken campaign promises (grocery tax repeal, for one) litter the tenure of that individual, and his next in command is seemingly even worse. I am pleased that at least the passage of this bill has occurred, but only time will tell how long it takes before we’re dragged into litigation by the Health Department attorneys in an attempt to redefine the words of the bill in a way that reestablishes their coveted control over the populace. I am not a pessimist by nature…but a realist. And these folks are all peas in the same pod as I see it.
this is a great article and even greater news!
