Some of you may remember a story the Idaho Dispatch did about Emri Moore, a former CBS 2 reporter who was fired earlier this year after an incident at the Idaho Capitol Building.

Several days ago, Moore informed Idaho Dispatch that she was going into surgery to remove a tumor inside her body. At the time, Moore, 28-years-old, was unaware of whether or not the tumor was cancerous.

Yesterday, Moore posted on social media that her tumor was indeed cancerous.

Here is what Moore posted on Twitter:

Cancer is tough but I am tougher.

That’s the tumor that was removed from my ovary. Unfortunately I lost my left ovary, Fallopian tube & stomach lining. Next step is chemotherapy for a few months and then I’ll be back stronger than ever!

Be kind and tell people you love them

In the post, Moore also posted an image of the cancerous tumor removed from her body. There is a ruler on top of the tumor for scale.

Idaho Dispatch spoke with Moore about how she found out about the tumor. She told Idaho Dispatch,

I noticed something was off about three months ago. My stomach felt extremely bloated and hard. I blamed my stomach feeling that was on my diet and not exercising as much. However, about a month ago I started to get a very sharp pain on my left side.

When I went to the Emergency Room for my stomach to be looked at, I was thinking it was probably a cyst or nothing at all, but I just wanted to make sure.

After getting a CT scan, the doctors, unfortunately, found a massive tumor the size of a basketball on my left ovary.

Idaho Dispatch asked Moore what was going through her mind when she found out she had the cancerous tumor. Here is what Moore said,

I was devastated and couldn’t control my emotions. It truly felt like I was in a movie. It didn’t seem real.

Within days I was seeing a specialist and getting ready to have surgery. Before surgery, my doctor said the chance the tumor is cancerous is less than 2% which is very rare. That definitely calmed my nerves and made me feel better.

Sadly, that doctor found cancer cells. The cancer I have is called dysgerminoma. Very, Very rare.

I had my left ovary removed, fallopian tube, stomach lining, and appendix. I mostly likely will have to go through chemotherapy for three months.

I have cried a lot this last week, feeling mostly scared of the unknown. But I know how strong I am and the best way to get through this is to stay positive.

In the wake of the announcement of Moore’s condition, her friends have launched an effort to help her raise funds to cover medical costs.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for those wishing to donate to help Moore cover her medical bills. You can find the link here.
