Eric Phillips to Challenge Caldwell Mayor Jarom Wagoner, as Three-way Race Emerges

By • May 29, 2025

Eric Phillips will challenge Caldwell Mayor Jarom Wagoner for the mayor’s seat as the controversy, a recall, and more continue in the headlines.

What’s Happening: While a recall deadline is nearing its end against the mayor and several city councilmembers, Phillips says he is ready to run for mayor, telling his supporters on Facebook, in part,

“I want to make Caldwell great for all of us here now.

I’m thankful for those that have provided me opportunities to do what I love, by with a 100% of time on my hands beginning in July, the trek to become your next mayor will continue.

Thank you to all those that have donated to my campaign, as it will help fund the campaign materials I am ordering.

Caldwell has 3 paths it can go. Two are the same direction and I’m here to give a direction to advocate for you to the fullest extent legally possible.

I’m asking for you help to bring change to Caldwell by donating to my Mayoral campaign. You can Venmo me, send a check, or deposit cash or check at Clarity Credit Union in Caldwell, Nampa or Middleton under account #33930.”

Digging Deeper: Phillips is well-known online, particularly through a Facebook group he started called “Caldwell, Idaho Community and Crime,” which has over 25,000 members.

Phillips’s entrance into the race makes him the second challenger. City Councilman Brad Doty has also filed paperwork to run against Wagoner and has raised $3,500, $2,500 of which was a personal donation from him to the campaign.
