Canyon County Woman Says PI Came to Her Home Over Alleged Caldwell Comments

By • May 14, 2025

A woman in Canyon County spoke with Idaho Dispatch and said that a private investigator visited her home, allegedly on behalf of Rosholt Law, to inquire about social media posts the investigator said the woman allegedly made online.

Rosholt Law is the same law firm that recently sent Caldwell recall organizer Jim Hollis a cease-and-desist letter on behalf of four Caldwell City Council members. You can read about that story here. Rosholt Law has also represented, and may still represent, Caldwell Police Chief Rex Ingram.

Idaho Dispatch spoke with the woman who was visited last week. Since our conversation with this citizen, they have provided us with a sworn declaration about the incident at their home.

According to the sworn declaration, the following is a description of the incident:

“On May 7, 2025 I was at my home at [address redacted]. At 3:22 pm the doorbell to my front door rang. I came to the door and opened it. A woman was standing on my porch holding a 1-2 inch wide folder. I asked how I could help her. She said she was looking for [name redacted]. I didn’t acknowledge that and she asked again how I could help her out. She asked if I was [name redacted] and I again asked how I could help her.

She then said she was a private investigator hired by a law firm in Boise. She stated they had tracked me via my IP address and wanted to talk to me about comments I had made on social media. I said no thank you and she turned to leave. As she was walking away I asked who hired her. She said Andrea Rosholt. I repeated the name in a questioning manner. She then said the name of the law firm. I then asked who hired the law firm. She said she had no idea. I said no thank you and she turned, went to her car and left my property.”

The woman told Idaho Dispatch that she has a gate clearly marked with a “No Trespassing” sign.

Idaho Dispatch asked the woman how they felt about the situation in Caldwell and what has been happening over the last few years:

“I believe the ongoing situation in Caldwell has reached a critical point. The alleged misconduct we’ve seen uncovered in the multiple legal cases, as well as the open disdain towardes citizens is appalling. I’ve been very vocal on several community pages, as well as the Caldwell Police Department Facebook page, voicing my opinions and concerns about what is happening.”

Finally, Idaho Dispatch asked the woman who she believed would send an investigator to her home. She replied,

“I expect more contact to be made because I am coming forward about this incident, but I believe I may have gotten a visit from this woman due to my comments regarding Caldwell Police leadership. Although in recent months I have also spoken out against many of the decisions made by the Caldwell mayor and some members of Caldwell city council, the subject of the majority of my criticism voiced online has been regarding CPD leadership. There have been hundreds, it not thousands of comments from citizens online about what is happening. Is everyone getting a visit at home about their comments or just me?”

Idaho Dispatch also contacted Andrea Rosholt of Rosholt Law for comment. We asked Rosholt about the private investigator going to the woman’s home and if the city of Caldwell requested her assistance in talking to citizens about online posts.

A paralegal with the firm told us Rosholt would be getting back to us; however, we have not received a response as of this writing. If a response is provided, Idaho Dispatch will update this article.

Idaho Dispatch has been unable to identify the private investigator who visited the woman’s home. Anyone who can identify the woman for us can send us an email to greg@idahodispatch.com, and as always, anonymity is guaranteed.

Update: Idaho Dispatch also requested comment from Ingram through Caldwell’s Public Information Officer, Char Jackson, but we have not received a response at this time.

  1. So, counsel for the Caldwell City Council is using intimidation tactics and approaching those that have used social media to voice their frustrations. Whatever happened to the 1st Amendment free speech? Apparently, if you try to cross Caldwell City Council members, or say something against the Council members, you too may be on the receiving end of intimidation tactics. Will they go so far as to threaten physical harm as they have done with Mr. Hollis? Let’s just see what threats they have for us frustrated as all heck citizens. Bring it on!

  2. People need to speak up, no matter what. None of this should be allowed, ever! Continue to inform us!!! Thus is America not Europe, we are free!!!

  3. Any comment from the police chief of Caldwell yet? It sounds like he’s the one behind this woman getting harassed.
