Boise Rock Station Spars with Online Commenters Over Pride Logo and Shirts

By • June 9, 2025

While the Pride movement seems to have slowed significantly compared to previous years, one Boise rock station is duking it out with online commenters over its Pride posts.

What’s Happening: 96.9 The Eagle (KKGL), which Cumulus Media owns, has been sparring with online commenters over several Pride posts recently. First, the radio station changed its logo to a rainbow-colored theme, a common practice among many corporations and companies in June. However, the number of companies adopting this theme this year appears to have declined.

The Eagle said on its logo change, which it did a few days before June, saying on Facebook,

“We’re going early this year by request. If we get complaints, it stays up longer. Be nice. – 96.9 The Eagle”

Over 400 comments flooded the post, with both positive and negative feedback. The Eagle administrators also engaged with many of the commenters.

Digging Deeper: Several days ago, The Eagle said it had created shirts, hats, and cups for Pride. Again, hundreds of comments flooded their social media site.

The Eagle’s posts would be in stark contrast to the Old State Saloon, which is giving patrons discounts on alcohol if they are straight during what they call Heterosexual Awesomeness Month.

  1. For me, this “battle” is very, very simple…the weapon(s) of my “warfare” will be my absence from their bandwidth.

There is nothing they can do to counter it…and I do it with (ahem) pride. 😉

    1. Ha, nice one! I too will not be listening to their station any longer. Not here to support any of this tomfoolery.

    2. so this station supports LGBTQ rights. If you would be so kind as to answer a question – why is that so offensive to you that you feel you must conduct “warfare”? It truly boggles the mind why who another person loves is anyone else’s right to opine on let alone be offended by. This is bigotry plain and simple.

      1. I agree 1000% Who someone loves is No one’s business except the couple involved. How does this woman loving another woman hurt these men? Other than their pride, that is. I guess they just can’t deal with any woman picking another woman over their gold plated unit. (((eyeroll)))

      2. LGBTQ people and their allies don’t have the “right” to constantly shove their sexual preferences into the faces of people who would rather leave that sort of thing as a private matter between individuals. No one’s “rights” are being violated by normal people complaining about being forced to contemplate the sexual practices of abnormal people.

No one is saying two gay people are not allowed to love each other and have a loving relationship; they just need to keep it to themselves, like everyone else does. Why do LGBTQs have this compulsive need to force everyone to applaud and celebrate their abnormality?
