Appeal to Heaven Flag Personally Removed by Boise Mayor, Tossed Aside
By Greg Pruett • April 20, 2025The flag wars continued as Boise Mayor Lauren McLean personally came and helped cut down the Appeal to Heaven flag and threw it on the ground.
What’s Happening: Conservative activist David Pettinger raised the Appeal to Heaven flag earlier this morning using a ladder. The flag is an official state flag of Massachusetts. However, in 1971, the state removed the words “Appeal to Heaven.” Official state flags are authorized under HB 96 as an acceptable flag.
Digging Deeper: Liberal activist Pam Hemphill recorded the event. Hemphill recorded several videos, including one in which she spoke with local law enforcement, who said they have not been directed to charge Pettinger.
Hemphill then recorded another video of McLean tearing down the Appeal to Heaven flag. McLean could have been respectful of the flag, which has a lot of historical significance for Americans, but instead, she threw it on the ground with one of the trash bags that was used to cover up the LGBT flag and organ donor flags.

Yes. You all have allowed the slippery slope. If Conservatives do not get off their asses and do something, Idaho will fall to liberal policies. I’m not in Boise or I would do it. The recall process is simple, state the reason and collect signatures. Idahoans want to talk trash about Californian Conservatives, yet it is your own people not doing shit about saving your own state. Politics have changed. Get involved or they will and your values will be lost!

Absolutely. I did not relocate my life to Idaho to watch blue hairs take this state too. The recall is easy. It takes effort. Does ONE person in Boise have the time??
Didn’t they try to recall her during COVID? Then not only wasn’t she recalled, but she got voted back in. This is what happens because Conservatives don’t bother getting involved in local politics.
This mayor is the worst that Boise has ever had. Goes to show that everyone that is moving here from out of state are bringing their failing political beliefs with them. Once they turn Idaho into the scum hole they escaped from, where will they go?
No. No. No. You Idahoans need to get up and stop blaming the Conservatives that relocated here. That’s why we choose Idaho. Your own freaky Idahoans are the ones pushing and you all are compromising. Stop compromising. Who elected a liberal mayor? You’re telling me there are more liberal voters in Boise? Bullshit. The Conservatives that moved here are not the problem. We were active in our states and we lost because of other lazy people and the supermajority in CA that passes laws without the people’s voice. Stfu. Do something.
It’s a shame that Boise seems like it’s becoming a bastion of liberal thought, where sense is not common. As long as such hypocritical actions are allowed to continue, we may be in danger of it becoming Seattle #2.
